Natural Hydrosols/Distillates
Many essential oils are obtained by a steam distillation process. The waters left behind after the steam distillation process are called hydrosols. These lovely, gentle waters make wonderful skin care products, and can be used alone as facial toners, linen sprays, and room fresheners. These waters are referred to as hydrosols, distillates, floral waters, hydrolates, herbal water and/or essential water.
Hydrosols contain the beneficial products of the essential oils (aromatic chemicals and plant acids) but in a less concentrated, safer form. These natural chemicals and plant acids make hydrosols skin-friendly.
For a cool, refreshing spritz, keep your hydrosols refrigerated.
